is 177,000 miles to much to buy??
looking at a 2004 FX4 with 177,000 miles. is that too many miles, after my trade in it will be 9,100 out the door! so need to know if i am getting a decent deal. i need the 4 doors, truck looks great, just has some miles. this is all i can find in my price range however, most have miles.
There are thousands of trucks for sale I would shop around if it was me. Don't buy with your emotions. My son has an 06 /SC in great shape 90,000 miles on it the dealers here in Detroit will only give him $10,000 -$11,000 for it on a tradein. Just an example.

the truck does look great, im probably going to think about it another week or so get caught up in finances then see if it is still there.
177,451 is a lot of miles, just very hesitant to buy something with that many. i have a regular cab and need the 4 doors. so should i deter the purchase for the miles on the truck?? what kind of problems could incur with such a high mileage vehicle?

If your trade-in is worth more then that,,then your getting screwed...lol

ALL depends on the maintenance and care given by former owner/s
If they can offer some record of that...then yeah....but if they can not produce such information...walk away. with those kinda miles...it is a real roll of the dice

I traded my '03 Lariat Supercrew in with 167,000 miles. I think the dealer ended up selling it for about $14,000. I was comfortable with that truck to think that 250,K or even 300 would have been possible with minimal maintenance being required. I am now in an '08 with 114,000 and it just runs along. If these aren't abused, I think getting at least 300,000 miles should be pretty easy.
177,000 is a bit of miles...but if your getting a good deal for it...just go for it...worst case...motor pukes....you check around at recycling yards and pick up another motor...it's not like a 5.4l is a uncommon motor...and a motor swap isn't hard to do...
ok now im looking at a truck that is loaded with Ranch hand grill guards, comes with original wheels and tires along with 20x10s with 33s on them. exhaust tinted windows, all for $9775. the truck has 186,000 miles however. should i do this deal??? truck looks great! i can sell mine for $4000 to dealer or more private party...
the guy told me history of the vehicle and is pings like most 5.4 liters do he said, also replaced coil packs 2 years ago, and has been serviced when it should be every 3,000.
Time for jbrew to chime in here to tell you that you "don't have coil packs...you have COP's (Coil On Plugs)"...........
{Pack} C~"pack" > 1= MC's (Multiple Cylinders)
