Got lucky on plug not blown out
Yesterday that famous noise happened. Got lucky, plug screwed back in (by hand and extension and magnetic socket), but it screwed the COP. Got new COP and put it all back and runs fine. Question for you knowledgeable guys. This weekend i'm gonna check each plug to make sure not vibrating loose. How many lbs. of torque on the plugs. Jbrew and others, let me know. Thanks for any help.
I would be wary, my plug blew out (#4 passenger side closest to firewall, no COP damage) and threaded back in and worked fine for about 2-3 weeks. I was on my way home and it popped for a second time 1 block from my house so I drove it on home and parked it. The COP was destroyed (looked like I tossed it in a blender) and I never found the plug.
I had the Blownoutsparkplug.com guys come to my house and fix it and it has been g2g since. I'm not sure where you are located, but I highly recommend them and their work if it happens again.
My truck is a 04 4.6 built in June 2003. When the Blownoutsparkplug.com feller was working on my truck he kept calling it an 03.

Yep, if it blew once with the min thread heads, chances are very, very, likely in your favor it won't hold forever. Not trying to make you worry or get an early repair, just saying be prepared. If it blows again and you lose the threads, Galaxy rents the TimeSert kit needed for your thread repair. Do a search, there's a few discussion about it or send him an email. I know he's helped a ton of guys out from the forums here, and his price is super reasonable...especially if it's a repair you want to do yourself. Plus, TimeSert is the only repair you should consider. Blownoutsparkplug guys are super, but it'll cost ya from what I've heard!
