How do you measure compression with the engine running?

GLC- You can measure running compression by just running the engine with the tester screwed in. Best not to do it with the injector enabled.

Khrvy4- The symptoms you describe might indicate a valve not opening for whatever reason .... flat cam lobe, rockers, etc. If the engine can't breath (in or out), that cylinder might indicate near normal static compression on a compression tester but show low compression running because in can't inhale or exhale. Hook up a vacuum gauge and you will see the needle dance like crazy. If it were me, I'd be pulling the rocker cover on that side of the engine.

thinks for the input, we checked the rockers and the springs, all good. Decided to install new lifters, work ok for a bit but the missfire came back. plugs and coil has been changed also. VALVES??????
This all started with a missfire on #2. nothing showing on the vacum guage.
