cracked oil pressure sending unit housing

Hi guys. I have a 1997 F150 with a 5.4L. It has the remote mounted oil filter.
I recently needed to change my oil pressure sending unit because I was getting no pressure reading on my gauge. While installing the new sender, I cracked the housing it screws into. I called the local Ford dealer and they said this is common as those diecast housings are tempermental...and they run about $200. How do I remove the housing? I've removed the four hoses and two bolts toward the front that I could see. I also see there is one large bolt that requires a large allen wrench to remove and there is also a plug. I've checked the Haynes manual and I can't find any mention of the housing or the sender at all.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I found this forum site. I think it will answer your questions regarding the removal of your filter adapter. http://www.f150forum.com/f6/97-remot...adapter-44044/

I just did the same thing to my 98 5.4L with the remote moil filter. Where you able to remove and replace the housing. Price of parts. Any info would be much helpful, thanks.

I had to buy a brand new housing from the dealer and spent about $200 but because it was so long ago, I can't remember specifics on the job. But I got it done. Sorry I'm not more help.

Thanks. I ended up towing it a friend's shop because it was on the street, paid $160 for labor, $45 for a used oil filter adapter at a wrecking yard, coolant flush and oil change later, its all fixed. Live and learn.
