2004 f150 timing chain/phaser

Chasing problem with cam phaser retard on drivers side and found broken timing chain rails in oil pan. Not sure if cam phaser caused it to brake or loose chain is causing cam phaser to retard incorrectly. Qutes for labor on this job is about $1000. Should I take it in or attempt to fix it myself. If I do will there be any special tools needed? Also should I replace both cam phaser when im in there or use lock outs/limiters?

look at my thread "missing, stumbling 5.4". I just went through the same issue, and I did it myself. 17...yes 17 hours it took me. Now, I am no professional mechanic, and I have no air tools, but it is a doable job. That being said, I might fork over the $1000 if it had to be done again.
