My 07 5.4L has been ticking. Could it be the cam phasers that others are talking about. Not sure because the ones I've read are older 5.4. Any help? Thanks

 

If it's a light ticking seeming to come from all over the top of the engine, it's just the fuel injectors openning and closing. If it is a single location tick coming from the front area, it's probably the cam phasers. If it is the cam phaser, I would not be concerned unless it becomes more of a knock. One other thing, make sure you are not using a Fram filter or a cheap filter from a lube joint.

 

Also, if you have a lube joint change your oil, I recall Mike Troyer mentioning that they can and have damaged something at the top of the heads with the spicket they use when refilling. Causing the same kind of issue.

Try tracking the sound w/long screw driver to your ear, -it works.
