Towing capacity

I have a 2002 F-150 supercrew with the 4.6l Triton V8 and was wondering if I can haul a 2 horse trailer with gear and 2 horses? The estimated weight is around 6000 lbs. The truck also has 200k on it.

I think you would be OK as long as you dont have any long steep grades on your route or plan on doin 35 mph getting up them. 6000 is about the limit I think for a 4.6.. Even for a 5.4 6k is allot.

no more or less flat ground and what hills there are are gentle and slopping. Plan on upgrading to a F-250 or 350 diesel in the near future was just wondering if my current truck would suffice in the mean time. Thank you for your answer.

It will be a drag, and you'll need to plan way ahead for stopping.

The trailer probably will weigh at or more than your truck so plan accordingly.

What axle ratio do you have? Does it have the factory tow package?
