3.8l Taurus E-fan

I have a set of efans that I put on about a year and a half ago, I don't like the through the radiator mount because it just caused my radiator to start leaking. I drive on very rough dirt roads all the time and I am looking to replace the fans I have with a 3.8L Taurus fan from the junk yard 60$. My question's are how much of the radiator on the 04-08 trucks will the shroud actually cover, and have any of you mounted them without using the pins through the radiator? I already have a DCcontrol fk50p controller that I will be using with the fan.

Edit just started looking on ebay, they have several Mark VIII fans on there as well as taurus fans. Anyone have any recommendations on which to go with?

Go with the 2 speed mark VIII, is your controller for the 2 speed?

heres a write up on fabricating brackets to mount above and below the radiator. Simple concept

Nope controller is variable speed, I am looking at one on ebay at the moment because apparently no salvage yard within 180 miles of me has a Mark VIII Lincoln on the lot.

older lincoln town cars have the 18" fan as well ~95ish. I just drilled some holes in the corners of the fan shroud and used zip ties to hold it to the rad.

After seeing a pic of the 3.8 Taurus and Mark VIII fans side by side, I'm thinking the Mark VIII fan is a better choice ...

So the Mark VIII fan is amazing, it moves a ridiculous amount of air. Here are a few pics.

if you still have your factory shround, you could cut out the mark VIII fan and bolt it to the original shroud so you can cover the whole radiator.
