04 lightning engine swap to 06 f150 lariat. NEED HELP
yeah definitely using the Lightning motor and tranny. I should be starting this project in the next week or so. Trying to find the time off of work. I know this is going to be a few day project. Not to mention how long I'll be on the dyno.
Keep it updated. I'm interested to see how it goes.
Grab a few beers and get it started tonight.
In the mean time, get some pics up of your truck and the lightning
I have pix of the 06 in my garage. I don't know how to post them in this thread.only my second day on here.
and the lightning is sitting in daytona, I'm in Fort Pierce and need to get them both back to my house in Charleston.

Wow...
personally, i think i'd just find a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP 6cyl F150 that has a blown motor or trans or something that makes it CHEAP and do a L-swap to that. then you could have your "thump thump stereo" truck, and then have a nice light street sleeper.. personally, just way to much wiring work to make it a couple day project. I think you'll find you'll end up spending a week or more just wiring in everything to agree with each other and still have issues.
But, if its what YOU want, DO IT! and post LOTS of pictures!

and you might as well swap the rods or else you'll be doing another motor swap in the near future
also your current oil pan and oil pickup tube will have to be used
you're going to need a new driveshaft
new transmission shifter cable
and some other "suprise" pieces just to make the transmission work
how complete of a setup are you getting from the Lightning??

Ok so I've been doing a lot of research, I think most of you are right. The wiring is near impossible. Do able but it's a slim chance of ever getting it all to run in sync. So now my options are parting out the lightning, or putting it to the side for a later project. Hmmmm.
On a better note I found a nice whipple kit made specifically for my truck. The 3V motor has more stock Hp than the L does anyway. Looking like thats my best bet. I'm not looking to build a drag truck, just want a little more a$$ than what I'm working with.
Truck will be in the shop friday getting the 410 gear. Then I'll see where Im at from there. I do want to thank everyone for their input.

The L motor your have puts down 380hp/450ft/lbs tq
Those gears will make a noticeable difference. But some boost will change your whole life. I say part the lightning, take that and any profit and put it into your build.
