04 lightning engine swap to 06 f150 lariat. NEED HELP

I just bought an 04 SVT Lightning that was smashed in the rear end. Motor is stock other than new pulleys on the supercharger. I'm assuming the block is the same and the lightning motor should drop right in the lariat. But I'm not 100%
Since I have the lightning and all the wiring it shouldn't cost much and shouldn't be very hard.

If anybody has done this swap I could use all the pointers you have to offer.

I would sell the Lightning engine and buy whatever the hot supercharger kit is these days for the 5.4 3v that's already in the truck.

Otherwise, you're in for a lot of wiring work.

I thought about that too. Whipple makes a kit for around 5k that will put me around 500hp. I wanted to be a little different though. plus i love the 2v motor. its made to take a little more boost.
I couldnt pass up the deal I got on the lightning either. after the motor swap i can sell the 3v and part out the rest of the lightning.

You're swapping the PCM and transmission as well?

yes pcm tranny and rear end. my lariat is 4 door so drive shaft wont work. I've done some research and it seems that it has been done. motor mounts are the same. But like Quintin said it's just going to be a lot of wiring and tuning.
I have the time and a little experience, just feel more comfortable with older motors. all this fly by wire stuff is tricky.

Do it, be different.

Wait, no... sell it. upgrade the 3v you have with boost. Atleast it will still hold value, and you can return to stock if needed. If you drop the L motor in, say good bye to the value of your truck.

If you don't mind, what did you pick up the wrecked L for?

the warranty is out on the lariat and with all the upgrade I have done to the stereo and everything else it really only holds value to me. Its pretty much just my toy now. Its paid for, time to play.

3500, a lifted truck hit it at a redlight. pretty much drove up on the bed of the L. insurance claimed it a total loss. couldnt even get a salvaged title. got a not to be repaired title. basically nothing i do to it will ever make it street legal again. so why not ****** the bad *** motor out, throw some heads, cams, shorty headers, and a few other mods on it and shove it in a sleeper.

no one around town knows I'm doing this. should be interesting.

I'm not trying to make it a race truck or anything but as we all know those 3v motors stock are like go carts off the line. plus I have about 1000 lbs of speakers and batteries in the bed.

They have potential but the computer keeps them gagged. the fly by wire throttle body has such a bad delay in it. I hate it. If one more 80 year old woman passes me im going to flip out.

How many miles are on your 06 lariat, paid for or not, it has value. I'm just thinking in the best interest all around. Nothing wrong with a blown 3v. How many miles on the L? If the mileage is up there, it may be due for a rebuild?

LMAO
I don't know much about the 3v's but have heard of something that gets rid of the sluggish throttle response. Research and you will find.

It's on you, your truck.

WTH do you have for a system..

I just think this is gonna be kind of a dumb cobbled together motor swap that's make your truck a POS that will never really run right.

You're basically gonna have to rewire the entire truck around that engine, and then you're gonna have to figure out how to make other things work (a/c, trans, etc) since while a Lightning PCM will run the engine, it's not gonna know how to run everything else in the truck that ran off the original processor.

If you can make it work, that would be pretty cool. Me, I'd buy a Whipple.

I agree Quintin, but just say I can get it all together and wired correctly, it be pretty bad ***. the 06 has a pcu and an ecu. if properly wired one will control the motor and one will contorl all the rest. I'm going to go for it. Hell if I can't get it tuned I can always drop the 3V motor back in, and slap the whipple on it. I will post progress and pix as I go.

Toyz, I put the edge evolution on the 3V and it helped with throttle response. but off the line it's still slow. It's pretty quick running about 30-40 and stomping on it.
