NBS 2004 SWAP 4.6 to 5.4 2v help!!!
thanks for the replies
sounds like i need a 8 bolt TC...
i assume Gotts2beme help start the gotts mod-very impressive!!!
maybe the mustang guys werent expecting to burn more gas with a stroker motor????
i think the 30hp your referring to is from the use of a HPS intake manifold for the 5.4. i dont think swapping from 4.6 manifold with the adapter plates to a truck 5.4 manifold is going to net too much hp. although ive been known to be wrong.
either was its too late, adapters already arrived.
got the stainless steel headers coming, 180 shipped sounded to good of a deal to pass up.
with the e fans, red aluminum UD pullies and headers its going to look trick. cant wait

You are correct on the HPS intake manifold. There was a guy on a local forum that had one and I went to take a look at it. There are issues with the HPS intake as well. You cannot use an HPS on an NVH block because of the ribbing in the valley. You must grind it off and take a lot of the integrity out of the block itself. I am not a fan of it at all. All the dyno results posted by HPS and independent people who have went from the adaptor plates to the HPS intake. I haven't seen anyone use the truck intake manifold other than myself. I haven't kept up on what was happening because I started the project nearly 2 years ago now. I really hope the adaptor plates work out for you.
Your converter should bolt onto the 5.4 flex plate. I believe all the trucks have the same size converter

for another $1800 you could install that partial setup...
and I hope you install all new o2 sensors

is right. thanks for bursting my bubble!!! and that dosnt even count in the cost of my trans that would blow apart.so all i need is the 8 bolt flexplate (which is only 35 on rockauto)
cant wait to see how the higher stall TC works with the 5.4
im curious what the hp difference between the 4.6 manifold w/adapter plates v. 5.4 truck v. HPS intake actually is- or even just the 4.6 Adapters v. 5.4
if it made that big of a difference i think the stang guys would run the 5.4 and cut a bigger hole in the hood. Idk
new o2 s at least in the front sounds like a very good idea
Adapter plates
this way i dont have to source out a intake manifold and everything *should* bolt right up, NO modding. if i had a pre 04 4.6 to look at and compare to my 04 4.6 to make sure of the similiarities. i think this way is less chance of failure and sheer simplicity.... now im starting to double guess myself.
only time will tell.
so 123 engine has not sent me a conformation. Eli s mechanic was suppose to call me about the timing stuff. maybe i shouldnt have confused them with it.

some of the lightning guys have been running some incredible times at the track with 'em
I agree with your reasoning for the adapters

apparently i missed the call last week from eli's mechanic.
motor has been shipped.

can anyone confirm the if timing set for a 03 e250 van with 5.4l engine code L is the same as 03 f150 engine code L. ??????
on rockauto- an 03 f150 has one timing set for sale for 158.oo and 03 250 econoline has two, the same part number and another which is only 108. im hoping they are swappable. iordered the latter.
also have on the way 02 expedition 5.4l timing cover used ebay deal 60 shipped
