I need help please!!!
I was driving my 08f150 5.4L and it started to run rough and stalled. I thought it was wierd but let it sit for a few minutes and turned the key to see if there was a check engine light on but there was not. (Now let me tell you about the sound it was like i had a diesel motor). i started it and drove home very slowly but the whole time never ran rough. The next day I booked it in at the dealership due to it is still under warranty. They said that they could not get it make the sound. They also told me that they left it in the parking lot running for an hour to try and get it to run rough. so they said that the manifolds they replaced should have corrected the problem. I went a day later and picked it up and ran great little more power and thought great it is fixed. I made it 10 minutes from the dealership and it started again. Took it back and said it is doing it now and they should have a quick listen. they got the shop foreman and i started it and after 2min it started to do it. He told me to rev it up to at least 4000 RPM then let off. (did not like that idea, but he is the mechanic) then he told me to leave it running until the mechanic was available that was 30 to 40 minutes later. Me and the service writer went a shut off the motor due to the noise and concern. the machanic came out started it up and reved the crap out of it and literally peeled away to the back of the shop. 3 hours later they told me the motor was siezed and I need a new one. Can anyone tell me some problems they over looked or are they trying to get out off fixing the cam phasers. And why would it not throw a code when running so rough?
i dont think they are trying to get out of fixing the phasers. if the engine did sieze, it is most likely due to lack of oil pressure. cam could have seized in the head or a rod seized to the crank. either way your getting it fixed under warranty.
I don't think I would have taken a liking to someone driving my truck like that, even though its under warranty and hopefully they replace the engine without any hassle. If they give you problems, I'd be pissed. A professional mechanic, after hearing the noise would have turned the truck off, brought it in and got out his tools to diagnose it, which as a certified ford mechanic he should have instantly known what it was by the sound of it. Or at least had it narrowed down to a few things. But they drove it till it seized, impressive.
