@OptimusPrimeFx4, I just did mine (only removal right now) and like toyz said, its not all that hard to do...You just basically have to pull the things he mentioned out of the way/remove them and unplug the vac lines/hoses until you get them all clear and off of the intake, then just unbolt it and you're done with the removal part.. I know it looks like alot of stuff is in the way but once you get at it its not hard at all.....

-THREAD BUMP-
Been chasing the P0171 & P-0174 CEL code for some time. After cleaning and checking everything I sprayed the intake with carb cleaner and at this very same spot my engine revied up when I sprayed it. Thinking this is the area where my system is allowing excess air into the system. I also noticed a little bit of coolant in this area as well.

How did you get it fixed ? Is it better to go with a 99 intake "Plenum" or should I go ahead and put it back to factory ?

About the CEL codes, I only get them with the temp is below 40 degrees. And after it warms up I get no codes or problems. This makes me think there is a gasket issue, were when it gets warm it seals itself.

My Truck is an 01' Super Crew, 5.4L, with 154K miles.

That's how he fixed it, - new(used) intake. Once their cracked , the intake is trash. The 99's are aluminum. 2000+ are compost. - Parden me, - that's composite! Same thing lol.
