Where and who exactly are you getting these COP's from on the internet? I think Im going to order a set and I need to get them overnighted if possible. Also, maybe you can give me the exact part# or something so I can look them up.?

For a 5.4 3v, search Ebay for "DG511". Get them from Uneek Supply or Global Automotive.

cheap solution

I bought a 2005 FX-4 with 200,000 miles. When I test drove it, before buying it, I noticed it would hesitate when I accelerated after it was in fourth gear, especially uphill or passing. The guy that sold it to me told me it had a misfire error code. He said it was probably a bad coil. On the service record folder he noted misfire #1 and #3.

After reading the forums, I read to change out the coils and change out the fuel injectors for each cylinder that is misfiring. I took it over to WalMart and had them clean the fuel injectors for around $20 BUCKS and the problem went away.

Hope this helps you and others. This is a cheap first step to take to see if it helps your situation.

Suppose to have the CoP's and spark plugs done on Monday. Went today and had the fuel filter changed and the problem seems to be about 99% gone!!!! Could this have been the problem? It still seems to hesitate some when I first slam down to pass. But not everytime and not nearly as bad as before. Theres no pronounced stutter like there was.

The hesitation may just be the typical electronic throttle lag.

I hope you don't pay retail for those cops - that could get very expensive.

The Cops were not that bad. The OEM Motorcraft Spark plugs from Ford were 25.99 a piece. The guy doing the work on my truck said to buy them. But, back to this damn truck. The stutter is still there. For some reason its there one min. and not the next. I have to really mash down hard on the gas to get it to happen. And like I said, it doesnt happen every time????? So, Im gonna go ahead and get the COPs and the plugs replaced.

That's ridiculous. You can buy them a lot cheaper than that. SP-507's are $6.95 at rockauto.com.

We bought the Bosch Platinum+4. $6.99 a piece at Shucks O'Reilly. Putting them in the 5.4 V8 and the 4.2 V6. The V6 just went over 100,000 miles. The V8 is over 146,000 miles and we don't know when/if the plugs were last changed, but it's starting to misfire so it's time.

Autolites are fine in the 3v. I've never seen anyone have an issue with them in that engine.

I assumed because the thread was started by a guy with a 3v but I can see now it was hijacked.

Swap #8 coil with another coil and clear the codes. See if the miss follows. At 74k it's time for new plugs.
