need help guys!!!!

need help guys!!!!

i got this truck last week its a 97 f150 stepside 4x4 4.6 triton automatic. i drove it for 2 or 3 days and was going down the road the other day in it and smelt somthing get hot and all at once it quit pulling and the truck just died so i had it towed to the house we got to looking and someone replaced the #24 30 amp fuse in the power distrabution box with a 80 amp fuse there for whatever happened it blew the 80 amp fuse and burnt the relay up so we changed fuses back to 30 and replaced relay now truck will start but then blows the same fuse again then all it will do is crank till u change the fuse then itll just blow it again but it dosnt do it in a pattern just when it wants to then today it got to were it would blow the fuse automsaticly when u tried to start it need help could it be a grounded wire or what ???

What does the owner's manual say that fuse is for? If you don't have the manual you can download it.

You have to go thru each wire in the harness for 24. You have a chaffed wire short somewhere.

Here's some of it -



Looks like the Yellow/Black wire to me. Might be the Red wire as well. Chase it down, you'll most likely find that one.

Short to ground in the red wire. Feeds Fuel injectors, O2 heaters, Valve body connector on the tranny, MAF, Coil pacs (4.6) COPS (5.4), fuel pump relay, IAC, EGR regulator valve, Intake Manifold, Tuning Valve, vapor management valve and the canister vent solenoid. Most common causes of short: Tranny work pinched one of the O2 sensor wires or the red wire going to the valve body, chaffed wires on MAF.
