No problem, yea, you don't need special tools really, - if you have them, they may come in handy, but not necessary.

There's not very many Timing procedures online for this engine, - if any, that are worth a snot. Not that I know of anyway. I have Workshop and Service from Ford, but their procedures incorporate special (expensive tools) that quite a few don't have in their tool box.

Dynotech took care of that problem.

Leave the cams in and just make sure you have the gears facing front.

Keep us updated if you will & pics would be really cool:-) Is your supercharger set-up from a Lightning or an aftermarket set-up?

we had to pull cams when head was out and somehow the gear got swaped to the wrong end.

we noticed before tightening the head down....that was a PITA...

Glad to hear the head gasket was the prob.

Well my parts arrived today I've got Sunday and Monday off..I'm going to start saturday night and get it down to the heads I hope ...

After flipping though the chilton I got from my bro inlaw it looks like a-lot-o work

I have a question .. Do any of the head bolts extend into any coolant passages ??

will I need any type of sealer on the threads for those bolts ..If there are any???

Not sure about that question. (?) I'd have to look at the procedure. I'll send it to you, - PM me your email.

Did you get NEW TY bolts ? I've heard that you can re-use the old, - although it isn't recommended.

Yea, I'll send the procedure a little later, but the TY Head bolts go in dry, nothing on them.

Good luck with the overhaul. Read and understand the timing chain install procedure before you start putting it all back together. Once you have done one it is really very easy. The gist of it is you set the engine cylinder #1 to top dead center. That is to be able to set a reference position that is common. Then you turn the crank to line up all the pistons to a safe position so that the valves do not hit the pistons when you are putting the heads back on. This also allows you room to turn the camshafts to line the marks up to their correct install positions.
