2000 Expedition motor help

I have a 2000 expedition with a 4.6 with a 8 bolt crank that needs to be replaced. I was told that the only motor that I can use is another 4.6 with a 8 bolt crank and it has to be from a 2000 expedition. I need to know what motor I can use that will be a pretty much plug and play. please help

Why ? You can use any 4.6L 97 - 04 2 valve. You can use any 5.4L 97- 03 two valve. It's a little more work using the 5four, but it's not bad. Look for JMC's swap notes in the How to section on this site.

The truck has a windsor in it now. It is 4wd also. I have access to a 98 and a 2001 romeo motor but they came out of crown vics. can i use one of them? Is there a difference between car and truck motors? I am looking for a direct swap that i can just take one out and put the other in.

They'll work, just use your truck intake when you swap. If the coils are different, use your trucks coils and harness. Anything that's different (there isn't much), just use the expy's.
