5.4 engine cutout WITH NO CODE
5.4 engine cutout WITH NO CODE
Posted this on the 150 forum, thought I'd try here.
2005 F-150 with the 5.4. 170K on motor, 20K on short block.
Everything is fine as long as I keep the RPM's below 2700 +/-
Get it up around 3000 either under power pulling a trailer or just my foot on the pedal in the drive way and after about a minute it goes into a rough running state and the check engine flashes amber. Let it drop back down around 2000 for about the same amount of time and it comes back to smooth running, the light goes off, AND NO CODE !!!!!
Thought maybe a problem with the fuel filter so I changed that, no change. My only other thought is the fuel pump getting weak, but don't like the thought of dropping the tank and getting another pump just to find out that's not it either. Scouring through the parts store manual and can't find the pressure specs on the fuel pump, but it could also be volume if it takes a minute or so for the problem to pop up.... ????????
