Does this sound like the 05 injector issue?
I am thinking I need to take my truck in for service. 2005 F150 XLT w/ 5.4 3V. I have been having an issue with truck sputtering when getting on the gas. I had the #6 Coil replaced twice. The truck is still doing it. The past couple days the truck is very hard to start and when I do I can smell gas strong from the exhaust. I also noticed I blew through a half tank of gas and barely drove anywhere.
I read about the customer satisfaction program that ford is offering on the injectors. I hope this is the issue and can be fixed under warranty. Is Ford also replacing the catalytic converter if damaged because of the bad injectors? I am afraid to drive the truck now.

Could be an injector or several other things. The important thing is to get it taken care of soon. If you are smelling raw gas there is a risk you could hydrolock a cyl which can severely damage the engine. Any codes and what lead you to #6 to change the coil twice? Also check your engine oil for fuel contamination.
No codes right now. I had it in to the dealer for a code P0306 and they replaced the coil. Then I bought a pocket scanner after the light came on and it was P0306 again so I put another coil on. It didn't smell like raw gas back then though. I guess it could be a spark plug issue as well.
If you are smelling fuel, I would not try to crank it before testing for leaking injectors. Check it yourself or get it towed in. On the otherhand, it is does hydrolock, and you have less than 120,000 miles, Ford will probably give you a new shortblock.

If you're within the warranty parameters Ford will give you a new short block if the engine is hydrolocked and a rod is broken with a bad injector the culprit, and will repair any other collateral damage caused by the leaking injector, like fuel fouled cats. It's all right there in the letter.
How would I check myself for a leaking injector?
You lift the injector rack out and place a dry towel under them. Then, turn the key on and see if any drip gas on the rag. Be careful not to lose or damage the o-rings. Do one bank at a time.

Well I took the truck into the dealership yesterday to check and make sure it was not the injectors. It turned out to be bad coil and plug on cylinder #1 and #2. They wanted $370 to fix this. I took it home and replaced them myself, still had the problem...so I replaced the plug in cylinder #6 because I recently replaced that coil. All seems to be working now. It only cost me around $160 to do, that is including the $88 the dealer charged to diagnose.
