These trucks are very sensitive to battery voltage. If it's got a bad cell it won't start. Stick a new battery in it or stick one from another vehicle in it and see if it'll start.

did you turn the key to the on position? it will start if you do that. Replace the relay.

wait your saying you did some shorting of wires on the starter? and it turns over?I think you should replace the firewall relay. Dont mess with the starter it obviously works.

The solenoid RELAY is on the firewall or fenderwell. THAT is what you are being told to short out.

Your starter relay is on the passinger side firewall follow the wires from your battery and alt and it will lead you straight to your starter relay.
EDIT: It looks like THIS:

Right, I was never able to find one either, - just the solenoid relay on the firewall, that's about it.

If your referring to the solenoid that piggybacks the starter. Yea, I don't think you can get them. You have to purchase the starter. These starters have a Lifetime warranty, - If you get the updated Bosch. The updated include a little pigtail harness.

No guy don't mess with the starter, all ford trucks have that other starter solenoid on the firewall close to the battery, if you can't find that on your truck, you shouldn't be working on them
