Raptor engine

Ford offers I think a 6.2 liter, but my question is, why didn't they use the 3-valve head? Its my understanding that its a 5.4 block, right? Just a longer stroke?

Cost. Instead of using a 3 or 4 valve head, they decide to use 2 huge valves. It is a torque monster.

It's not the same engine. The 6.2 has been designed from the ground up. 2 valve heads are more reliable than 3/4 valves, and that's what you really want in a truck.

Yep.

That's why the new 5.0L truck engine is a DOHC 32V with Ti-VCT

So very simple - just yer basic Bubba truck mill

Has it been confirmed to have 4 valve heads? I thought they were planning on using a 2 valve version for trucks, that way it isn't so similar to the 6.2's peak power.

They will just detune the 5.0 to a 365hp package or something of that nature...

I seem to remember seeing ford having patents on 4 valve designs on the 6.2, and a twin turbo version at that.

Good thing they aren't the original 3V plug design.

Can you imagine?
