Less than my current 4.6 makes... 220hp. Hmm. No, seriously though. No motor swap.

I thought he was someone else. There's another on this site with an almost identical user name running a 4.2L who has some pretty unbelievable stories.

Regardless, yea, that's right Punisher, for 98 it was 235 @ 4250 RPM. But it's really the torque down low that separates the two V8's.

Since BOMan is unaware of his motor specs, I'll post those as well.

Ford introduced Power Improved heads for the 4.6L in 2001. HPower then jumped from 220 to 231 @ 4750 RPM. So his 04 is @ 231 FWHP.

This is the same guy...he's switched back and forth between this truck (the 4.6l reg cab) and his other/dad's truck (the scab 4.2l).

And yes, the 2001-2004 4.6l made 231 hp. Still a little less than the 1998 5.4l.

Oh okay lol. Initially, my comment was toward his comment - "Performance First".
I wasn't referring at all to my 98 5.4L. He brought that up
For the best performance possible, you would build a 5.4L. OR purchase a factory Lightning engine. All modulars are great engines, - the essex is nice engine as well. I guess he got defensive, you could say.

Your right it was 235 because when I put in Triton V8 my computer corrected it to 4.6

I also wanted to make my 4.6 fastish... So I did a little research and made it faster. Headers are a waste of money as a first mod. Take a close look at your exhaust system and between the collectors and the Y you will see two massive restrictions. The Y pipe is the most obvious and right after the collectors where the pipe turns down is a reduction from 2.5 inches to 2.25 inches on bot sides of the engine.

.

not worth the money???? i hope you are kidding.

the money you spend on a 5.4 swap, would be as fast as the money you spend on the 4.6

For the money I would have to pay to get a swap I could supercharge, build up the motor or many other things.
