yeaaaaah... I guess I did the impossible ****? I mean after all, I went from 4.6 to 5.4 lightning. I had to rebuild the poor trans, but wtf you expect from a 196k mile trans?

Haven't you had to rebuild a couple of rear ends too?

I'm pretty sure that the OP doesn't want to swap out a 2 valve 4.6 for a 2 valve 5.4 on a 2008 FX2, like tar was suggesting. It would be interesting and it would work, I've considered it and might go through with it one day, but it's just not something anyone has done. If he wanted to swap in a 3 valve 5.4, only the frame and body would be original.

we need a doh smiley of some kind. Setting my eyes on the whole comment about the "body and frame be original", are you seriously that blindly looking over the bellhousing being the same?

Are they the same on the NBS trucks? I've always heard that the 4R75E was only compatible with the 3 valve 5.4 and that the bell housing was different.

Yes, the last time I checked 4r75 will directly bolt up to my 97 5.4 or 4.6. the electrical becomes the next hiccup. Its more simple mechanically or physically than your making it out to be.

He has a 2008. It hasn't been done with a 3 valve 5.4 bolted up to a 4R70E. Unless he wants to be the first of course.

but. but. but.but...buuut.... FAAAAACK!

Dude, physcial bolt togetherness doesn't get any better than 4.6/5.4 having same bell pattern. the only concern is the electrical end.

Please take your 4.6 and go home

No ones ever done it before. Just because it can bolt up, the question of "should you" comes up. I think that if he really wants a 5.4, he shouldn't bother swapping it and just trade it in for a truck that does have one. As a matter of fact, I don't think anyone has gone from a 4.6 to a 5.4 on the NBS trucks.

Oh and I am home, so take that!

Since you say it cannot be done even though it'll bolt together, and tuning can compensate for differences.
