Second set does the same as the first.. so soft. the nut, by design destroys the threads as it turns down on the stud. I'll see if I can get a picture of these things. Not sure I want to use them. I just left the manifold off, and I'm tearing the motor out now. I got the rad, plastics, plug wires, fan batt, and most of the harness unplugged. Tomorrow I'll get the manifold off and I'm pretty much set to pull it out. I still need flex plate bolts (from ford) studs for the manifolds, and a torque converter. Anyone know how much a stock 5.4 converter will run me?

Just an update with some new pics. Motor is almost ready to come out. I got in a few hours yesterday. Got the intake pulled, and a couple bolts from the bell housing off. Along with the alt and a few other parts. Should have it out monday or tuesday. So many electronic connections. I also found one deep well socket, and one 10mm in the valley under the intake. Oh and I apparently was section 8 for some small animal that made his nest in there. I double checked the wires and he didn't mess with any. Enough talk heres some pics.

All out. All the 4.6 stuff is now on the 5.4. I'm sorting out some small differences in the wiring harness and pulleys. I know I will need to add a small amount to the oil sender wire, I'm not sure on the knock sensor. The swap notes are a little different then what I have. On the 4.6 its two wires, white and black. On the 5.4 its two wires yellow and black. Common sense says white to yellow, and black to black. I've gut the pigtail of the 4.6 and will solder it onto the 5.4 since the physical sensors are different. All thats really left is then is to tap a hole in the crossover. I have two temp sensors on the 4.6. So I need to make space for the additional. Then in it goes! New torque converter of course

UPDATE: Got motor in and mouted. Intake is on and torqued. Got the vac lines ran, injectors plugged in most all of the connectors are done. I have a couple questions left. What is everyone doing with the throttle cable bracket? The one on my NPI 4.6 does not bolt up to the 01/02 PI Intake... Well sort of does but with only one bolt I'm not sure I want to do that. Second is on the temp sensors. There were two of them one with a white/gray top one with a black top. The white/gray top was closest to the tstat on my NPI motor. On my new intake I had a hole already tapped, then closed off by a small plug. I got the plug out and put the gray/white sensor in there. I assume it to be for the PCM information. The second black plug which I assume to be for the cluster has no home currently. I'm not really up to tapping the crossover.. since There doesn't seam like a good spot to do so without risking cracking it. Also on my NPI the outlet for the heater core to intake was in the rear pass side. Now it's at the front pass side. I have stretched the hose to make it work. Has anyone experience this and what was the remedy...? Just buy a 5.4 hose? My ideal solution would be to get some rubber tube and an elbo, and in the middle some sort of metal piece where I can screw the temp sensor in? Any thoughts or suggestions... Pics would work wonders. I should have this pretty much tied up by the end of the week and ready to fire, no exhaust done of course

what i did on my 5.4 lincoln was just drill and tap the crossover for that sensor, I forget the size off hand but it was NPT I remember that much.

For the heater hose just go and get a new chunk of hose from any auto parts store, you shouldn`t need an elbow, it will be flexible enough

You got a pic of this so I can see where exactly you tapped this at.... I'm very very nervous to drill on this brittle feeling crossover. Good to see your active still- I when I first joined your intake mod was the first one I did! Excellent work.

Figured it out. Went to hardware store and spend ~$10. This sensor is for the cluster not PCM. Fit is like a glove.

You got it except I would have went w/brass T. - That will probably be fine, - I guess I would want to be assured that it can handle coolant chemical and heat torture in the long run(?) -uknow? I believe that's a cold water T you have there. Irrigation fitting ("T").

I was thinkin something like this -

jbrew i like yours better. Theres a couple things I noticed. That cooling line doesnt bulge up like mine. I used the 4.6 line. SO this spring when I change out the coolant- I will replace with a 5.4 line, and tap into that with the new materials. I just want it running. With my line it comes up over where the cover would be. eventually I would love to put the cover back on and make it look factory- not like I've been in there tampering with wiring harnesses and such. Why does the cooling line seam like it's not on the intake all the way? I'm glad we thought alike on this though.

Schedule for today is to figure out how to get the other coilpack on the pass side. Buy an additional pulley for the driver side and maybe get the belt put on it.
I've left the torque converter bolts alone because they go on VERY hard. The bolts from ford look more like an 0 then a O if you get what I mean. Seams like they are by design so they don't rattle off, but they are tough as nails.

Started the truck for the first time this eve. After two turns it fired up like it just rolled off the line. Amazing since it sat for a year.
Still needs MAF, IAC, Intake Tube and filter, Front O2's, Exhaust period, Fan, Fan Shroud, Plastic wheel wells, some sort of solution for the tranny dipstick since it doesnt bolt up, and of course the tune. Got a buddy that uses Delta Force's Sniper tuning. Should be a pretty basic tune. I'm just ready to start driving it.

Thats great. Mine is out and I still have new parts rolling in before I can mount my new engine. Just got the engine mounts this morning and TC yesterday. Think that just leaves a new PS pump and some little things. Then I'll be in the same boat needing a new exhaust and tune.
