What durn component...

..is responsible for engine start-up conditions? Is there a component that "reads" outside conditions and adjusts the engine air / fuel / etc. accordingly?

I had a vacuum leak, which I believe was from the break booster line. However, after removing the intake manifold...I realize that the intake gasket had to have been leaking because of the evidence of dirt into and beyond the perimeter of the manifold gasket. This has made a considerable difference in running (for the better!)

But..when I drive the truck I can tell the way it is running when I stop and turn it off and go into a store to when I come back out and re-start it. It is like it "reads" the environment falsely and adjusts the run perimeters accordingly.

Cleaned the MAF - injectors - fuel filter (but not the sparkplugs yet).

Thanks

Well the engine sensors send info to the processor ( computor) so you could say it "reads" the info and makes the adjustments. What engine do you have and a little more on the specific issues you are referring to like (rough running, low idle, etc.) would be a big help. Also if the engine light is on or has been on there should be some codes stored that would help point you in the right direction in regards to a fix.

Check the IAT, Intake air temp sensor-might not be plugged in tight.
It's the "other" sensor in the intake hose.

And X2 on info and codes.
