Lightning Engine help needed !

So here is the story, the truck will barely (missing and chugging) start and stall unless I prime the fuel pump 2-3 times. Then after it starts it will idle ruff vibrate and I can hear it missing in the exhaust note along with black smoke for a few seconds. I also this week just got a p0175 code rich in bank 2 I believe (ds or ps?)? I am wondering what you guys think it could be? It also does not sputter of miss when I am on the gas. My thoughts are a stuck injector or a bad COP? Not sure but any help you guys could give me will be great as I have been dealing with this for months now.

Thanks for all the help in the past also!

Dave

So the plugs in the DS bank are clean and look good and tan. The ones in the PS bank look like below and I believe are fouled. They have about 2000 miles on them max.

Any ideas what might cause this and should I put new plugs and COP's in first or try and fix whatever it is first?

Have you checked for leaking injectors?

Have you checked the fuel pressure? Any vacuum leaks?

Good chart Jbrew thanks. I am going to check fuel pressure today and I don't think there are any vacuum leaks and I have checked compression and its good and level across. After looking at the chart above I am still puzzled with why it would only be the one side? Only thing I can think of is that I have a k&n breather on the oil filler and I have capped my pcv on the PS. Should I revert back to stock on these and see if its causing it or are they ok?

The only things it could be on that list would be leaky injectors, pcm(tuning issue), vapor recovery system (pcv?) or excessive fuel pressure. But with all of these wouldn't it only effect a cylinder or two or all of them not just four cylinders?

Thanks for the help again!
Dave

Check the injectors, -I would.

1. Disconnect battery.
2. Get situated to pull the fuel rail.
3. Before you pull it, - cover your coils with a few rags, - uknow, tuck the rags under the fuel rail to catch any residual fuel that may spew. You'll get a little during this process.
4. Lift the rail straight up.
5. Remove the injectors that stuck in the heads and plug them into their fuel rail port.
6. Wipe them all clean and get rid of any fuel soaked rags/ replace w/fresh rags.
7. Reconnect the battery.
8. Check all 8 injectors one more time, wipe them dry, specially at the bottom.
9. Turn the ignition key to run (NOT START). This charges the fuel rail.
10. Inspect injectors.

Any drops, dribbles or tears at the bottom, that injector is bad.

do you have a k&n air filter as well? might need to clean the MAF.

sounds like injectors though really.
