How much did you pay to get your plugs done?

I had my buddy's shop mechanic change my plugs 2 months ago. Apparently all 8 broke but they all came out. He quoted me about 500 bucks for the plug change oil change and general "tune up" before he did the work. I warned that there could be issues and if he knew what he was up against and he said yes.
The 500 buck quote seemed in-line with what dealers were quoting. I haven't seen a bill yet as I am building him a basement and pay up time for both of us is coming!!

So I am sure it will be a bit more with all plugs breaking but I want to be fair.
What did y'all pay for a base rate and how much more per plug if one broke.? The new plugs are all Motorcraft.

My dealer charged $325 plus about $40 each for broken plugs. They got them all out, none breaking. If your guy broke all 8, he had no knowledge of what he was trying to do. There was a guy in a current thread that paid $279 and no extra for broken ones. They didn't break any either.

My local dealer quoted me 324 and the first plug break is free...80 for each broken plug thereafter. I've a bit over 70K on the Expy.

My ford dealer quoted me $300 which is by the ford book and he knew of the breakage issue my 04 had 50K and they broke 6 of 8 and I didn't pay anymore mostly because he failed to tell me there would be an extra charge if they broke some, also mine were not very bad almost no carbon so am not sure why so many broke??? They did get them all out though.

Sounds like you had a tech who was learning on your truck.

My dealer did mine this week for the quoted $249 parts and labor. He said if a couple broke it was no big deal, he's take care of it. Here's what the original plugs looked like at 113,000 miles.

i still cant see why ford is allowing dealerships to charge if they break when it was THEIR OWN fault in the first place for putting those type of plugs in the first place...kinda like getting rid of the 7.3 PSD and put in that crap of a motor called the 6.0 ha, little off subject but im angry.

Dealers are independant businesses. Ford has no control over what they charge for service.

The dealer I work for charges about $300 plus plugs, and like $85 for each broken plug.

The broken plugs themselves aren't that big a problem anymore since there are tricks and tools to get them out. If it's someone I know or an F150onliner in my area, I don't charge for any broken plugs, but I'm pretty good at getting them out without breaking.
