Help! Engine Misfire

My truck ran fine all day untill tonight, when I started it up, it was obvious that i was misfiring. I drove it around a little, hoping to get a code that would lead me to which cylinder it is but i never got a code. Any Suggestions?

Thanks!

keep driving it until you get a CEL. It will come up. Sometimes take a while.

A cel should eventually present itself. But if you want to try to pin point it immediately you can run the engine at idle while misfiring and one at a time unplug (the electrical connector) the coil over plug one cylinder at a time. Each time you unplug one, that cylinder is no longer firing which will make a noticeable change in the idle causing a misfire. If you come across one that doesn't change the way it is idling, that is most likely the bad coil, same goes for injectors. One at a time unplug... wait and see if it changes, if not then plug it back in and move onto the next...etc. Until you find the one/ones that don't change.

I agree. Mine felt like the motor was gonna die and fall out before the cel came on with one cylinder misfiring.

I'll guess your talking about a truck. Do you know what size engine ? It's that deal under the hood with the propeller in front of it. I can't tell from here.

Like jbrew said a little more info will help. Like engine size, year of vehicle, mileage, is it even a Ford?

you oughta put that in your profile in the user cp menu so it shows up on every post, like mine does there on the right.

OK i have no clue as to what this could be... i still havent gotten any codes and I went through and unplugged every single plug, when I did that the engine's idle decreased and got worse. But it did that on every single plug! I discovered that the misfire gets much worde in drive, reverse, 2, and 1 but in park its still noticable, but not that bad. Also when i have it in gear and I listen closely to the engine there seems to be a slight rattle, almost sounds like a knock.

Well i recently did the gotts mod last friday, it started doing this tuesday evening. So the first thing i did was remove the mod. I thought i might have fouled something in the air intake so i cleaned maf and throttle body and nothing has changed. Any suggestions?
