Engine Smoking

Whenever my 2002 F150 4.2 sits for awhile and I start her up, I get a light blue smoke from the tail pipe. She has only 62,000 city miles. What can be the problem?

Valve seals. Don't worry about it unless you start using more than a quart of oil in 1000 miles.

With that said, with that kind of usage your engine may be sludged up, causing the head drains to be slow. How often do you change your oil, and what oil and filter do you use? You may want to do an AutoRX treatment to clean things out.

I have the oil changed every 4000 miles by the local Ford dealer. I was thinking about some type of oil treatment, but don't know which one to use.
