'06 5.4...Weird tube underneath...

So I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I don't know what this tube is that looks like it spans the length of the truck and ends in the engine bay. It's kinda dark right now, I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. It looks like a thick piece of black rubber tubing hanging down just behind the engine bay. The end has a clamp to make an eye. The best way to describe it is to picture a sewing needle, except black and flexible. That eye loop is what is dragging on the ground. Any ideas?

There's the images. It looks like some sort of drain.

I don't think that's it. E-brake works ok, unless it's just a shell for it.

Loaded the pictures. It looks like a drain of sorts, but I can't figure out what the loop was connected to so it wouldn't dangle.

is that second pic looking toward the front or back of the truck? if toward the back, it looks like it's coming from the transfer case. could be a vent tube. not sure why they felt the need to make it that long?

That is the breather for the transfer case. It needs to be attached to the firewall. The loop is there to keep liquid from entering the tube. If you let it hang you risk getting water in the transfer case.

alrighty. Now I gota see what it hooks to at the firewall. I didn't see anything when I took the pictures. Anyone able to take a picture of theirs? BTW, thanks for the help. Yes, that second picture is facing the rear of the truck. You can see the drive shaft and the exhaust on the right side.
