Yet another spark plug question....xp103(autolite) or 22w's?
Reason why I ask...is that I already have the xp103's in the motor and they work good. (at least to my knowledge) But when I went to the parts store, they told me to switch them all out for the motorcraft 22w's cause I'm losing power running the iridium xp"s. Is this true?! I mean if I have to i'll change em out, but if not then I wont even bother. And isn't the 22w a Platinum covered iridium anyway? I guess I could use some incite......Thanks!
i hate the autolites. ran them for about 2K before i got a misfire. ive had motorcrafts for about 20K with no probs. i know people that run autolites in fords. but i didnt have good luck. like my sig says "The more Motorcraft parts. the happyer a triton motor"

We have received conflicting information from Honeywell themselves and many have real world experience that shows otherwise. If things have changed that is good news as it makes plug choices simpler but you will have to show us some data. Jbrew has some correspondence for you to read.
I am the technical manager at Autolite. The XP103's in your truck are the very best spark plug technology available for your vehicle. We manufacture the motorcraft plugs as well, same plant, same production line, different paint job on the insulater. I really do not understand the guys on here that love Motorcrat and hate autolite when it is exactly the same product.

I changed my oem plugs at 80,0000 mi. to autolite because I read that they were made by the same company, on the same line, etc. as motorcraft. Drove to Tampa, FL from Minnesota with them in- 3 hrs. into the trip I knew they were not the same from the sluggishness and rough idle, but I wanted to believe. Made the trip back and it was hit and miss literally. I was so unhappy with the auotlite plugs that I pulled the easiest one to have a look........way out of gap. I pulled another and another with the same result. I am now a believer in that only motorcraft plugs. My 2001 5.4 now runs like it was new.
I am not saying OEM's are no good, but all manufacturers have stickers saying "use XXX oem parts for oem performance". Depending on the part, it might be good advice. I have no basis for comparison on spark plugs. Been running Autolites for almost 9000 miles and have noticed absolutely no difference. Of course the gap was out on my oem plugs, so maybe it would have run better with motorcrafts. I had the guy at the Dodge service dept tell me that the 5.9 in my wifes Ram would run better if I replaced the autolites with champion plugs. I laughed at the time, seemed silly. Might be something to this though.

After that i put autolites in worked for abotu 4,000 miles then i had a miss on 3 and 4.
Replaced coil packs wires and plugs everything says MOTORCRAFT and truck hasnt had a prob in 30K.
now i know some people have good luck with autolites but i did not. heck some people even get away with bosch but not me.
if you want an aftermarket plug Denso and NGK i think are the only 2 other then motorcraft that will work. but those are made for Forced induction or nitrous. some N/A people run them i think Jbrew has a set of NGK in his truck.
Just my .2cents
