ok this will be hard to explain but the noise im hearing is like a tinny drumming noise and its only when the engine has been just started after sitting for a few hours or overnight. there is no check engine light and the engine does not hesitate or run as if its misfiring. so i dont know where to even look for this noise.

 

Well I would start by removing the serpentine belt and starting it after it has set for a while. If there is no noise you can suspect a FEAD component. Could also be a cat heat shield if you still have any. May want to have someone else start it while you listen for the location of the noise as well. Need to narrow the approximate location down then go from there.

 

ok i figured out the noise and its coming from my Volant CAI. i think i will take it apart and clean it up and make sure nothings wrong with it.
