wow tons of info in here. i know a Cam and Crank senor will cause no start but ive never heard of an intermentin one *doesnt mean it cant happen just means its never happend to me*

if your TB is at WOT the truck wont start either. so your TPS might be doing somthing goofy.

the IAC i had mine out of the intake tube and it would start frist try just idle really really really funny when cold it would go from 600rpm-300rpm and do that a few times before it stayed steady....learned from Jbrew and i shoved it back into the intake tube and truck starts and idles fine.

these guys know there stuff mostly Jbrew hes taught me more then my fair share on here. and i agree test everything you can before you start throwin parts at them.

see if your buddy at ford can get his sweet solaras scanner on ur truck and make sure all senores have Vref at the Crank and cam and TPS at start up Vref=5 volts *hey what do you know something i learned in college wooorah! we had a solaras at my school and i hooked it to my truck....scanner will tell you what EVERY senor is doing! its nuts!!*

Well it seems it was a second defective fuel pump - totally intermittent, but finally started to show some real symptoms while I was hauling a load for several hours. About two weeks ago I pulled a car hauler about an hour and a half away to pick up a wrecked parts car I bought (needed some parts for my daily driver - 2000 Saturn LS1). Loaded the car and towed it back without ever shutting the truck off. The truck never missed a beat the entire trip until I was on a flat straight-a-way about a minute from the house. The truck started acting like it wasnt getting fuel when I gave it throttle. I just let it cruise and kept the RPMs low to get it to the house. Pulled up and turned it off and got the car unloaded. Tried to crank it again about 30 minutes later and sure enough it wouldnt crank - just kept turning over and then stumbling out each time. So I crawled under the truck and beat on gas tank with a rubber mallet, climbed back in and fired right back up. Drove it a couple more days and then after a rabbit hunting trip it didn't want to start again, so I tried the rubber mallet and sure enough after beating on it the truck cranked right back up.

Called my guy at Ford, told him what it did, and he said its gotta be the fuel pump. Ford warrantied my other pump since it hadn't been a year, and put in a new one. Its been running strong and starting every time since then.

Thanks for all the help guys - I will update this thread again if the problem pops back up, but as for now we are ruling it as a bad fuel pump.
