Replacing PS Pump - Any hints?

So this is my job for the weekend. Did I miss anything or is there no Tech article for this? I have heard some of you say it is a PITA and some say no big deal. Most people who hear the whine say definitely the pump so is there a way for me to really know or just pull it off and check. I have found that on most do-it-yourself jobs on here that even if you have the shop manual (which I do) you guys seem to give more of a "been there done that" approach that has saved me a lot of grief. While I am there, is there any real benefit of upgrading the serpentine belt or just get the typical one? Thanks again!

Yep and one other tip. There are four bolts holding the pump on. The one behind the pump outlet (metal tube) can be deleted when reinstalling the pump. It is a pain to get out and put back in. I just cut the head off once I have it loose and remove it. When reinstalling the pump leave it out and just use three bolts. Later in production they deleted it from the installation at the factory. In other words the pump only needs the three other bolts to secure it to the block. Good luck.

Best to remove the pulley first thing. Cant get to some bolts with it on and the hose either. Put it on last as well.

Yeah I remember reading in the shop manual about the 4th bolt. Hopefully it goes easy but I have a good support group. Now - which one of ya is manning the emergency repair hot line?
