Yea, you can start a thread on Lucas additives or additives period. AutoRx is the only additive I'll support, -that does do a good job cleaning up the internals. Just about all others are snake oil IMO, unless their supported by our vehicles manufacturer. The consensus will probably go both ways, best thing to do would be to find professional testing, maybe that Bob the oil guy has done some, - not sure. You could search it out on the net.

Good Luck.

I've seen quite few take offs on ebay for $30 or so. Their removed from Romeo crate motors and sold.

Here's one I purchased that way -

Nice! I would not have thought about buying one off of ebay, mainly due to the risk of it being just as bad as mine might be. However, that is why you look for reliability and buyer reviews. I am hoping for a bad belt ($40 to 50) or a PS pump issue ($60 w/a $20 core) but a $30 alternator off a Romeo crate motor might work as well. Thanks Jbrew! I might look into that.

Why cant these whines sound like a supercharger? At least when my idler pulley was bad it gave a nice high pitched whine that could have sounded like a supercharger. Now I just sit there and feel like everyone is looking over at me, so I just find the closest POS to look at!

Yesterday, the truck sat in the office parking lot for about 14 hours facing north, what was I thinking. The wind blew and blew and the windchill was way south of 0, when I finally left for the night, talk about some whines. I think everything was whining, including me! Everything quieted down after about a minute, except my problem whine, but the Evo pegged all temps at 0. Aint winter grand?

Bad news. It wasn't the pulley. Also, was told by Advance Auto that it was my power steering pump. I told him it wasn't just when i turned, but more when i would accelerate. He just kept telling me that it was my power steering, and that to put some stop leak into it. Did that earlier, and to much surprise....didn't work, go figure. Unfortunately, guess next option is the alternator, which i was afraid of since the beginning.

I'd get that stop leak out of there and let me give you some really good advice.. DO NOT listen to parts monkeys! They dont have any kind of a clue what-so-ever! Was your pump leaking oil? if not why would the moron at the parts joint sell you stop leak? I didnt see where you said it was?
