2004 5.4 problem

Anybody have issues with their cam phasors? I had mine replaced like 5,000 miles ago. and the other day I heard the noise come back & they are still under warranty and he is replacing them for free. But he called today and said it could possibly be a lifter problem. Is this usual for a 5 yr old vehicle with 60,000 miles on it? If so thats Friggin' ridiculous.

Any Ideas?

do all the 04's have this problem, you're saying that even if he fixes it, its going to sound like a diesel ? If its a another $1000 fix I am goin to trade this thing in for a newer one and take my losses I don't wanna have to dump $1000 in it every 6 months. Thats ridculous

so u will trade it in due to a little noise thats common to these trucks? Why try and fix it every 6 months? But also why trade it in? My 04 has 95,000 ,iles on it and I have that noise but the truck runs strong and smooth. Why fix something that isnt broke?

dude you must not have the same problem..or you have a tolerance for noise...ive heard these things and at idle they sound like it has a engine knock..which..i dont like to drive through the parking lot with my truck making noise..the exhaust leak is bad enough

then when you accelerate you sound like it has a diesel motor..not cool..

First off its not just a noise it is the cam phasers knocking that I am talking about which can from what i've read eventually lock up the engine down the road if you don't take care of it and I did which was the first $1000, and its under warranty for another 7000miles so I took it in and its good to go, there is a certain noise that the engine is not supposed to make that I am talking about not just sounding like the stroke of a diesel engine...I don't have to fix it every six months I am just saying it has been a few months since I fixed it and its coming back..which its not but I am going to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't come back and yes I agree that these engines are noisy and NO! I don't want to trade it back In I was going to if the problem was going to cost me another $1000

Any ways enough rambling,....Have A MERRY CHRISTMAS :santa:

So its a knock then? ya thats not good. I understand your standing on that then...I just get tired of people complaining about the little bit of noise these engines make that is common due to their design. A lot of people spend thousands to have a sound fixed that doesnt really need fixed.

Merry Christmas! :santa:

^^ yeah man no worries just wanted to explain myself better...my other post was me just venting because I thought it was my phasers again but thank God it wasn't...Yes I love these engines not the noise 100% but I got used to it...my Dad drove my truck back from the shop and picked me up from work and said "MAN!!!, what did you put in this think I could smoke the tires on this truck" I was LMAO, So I explained to him what the gryphon was
