Methanol in gas?

I have some 5 gallon gas cans that have gas in them and they have been sitting for a few months. They are covered but with all the snow we had lately I am pretty sure there is some water in them.

Question is we have a bulk storage of methanol here hwere I work and I wondering if I dump a cup or so in each can will it take the water out?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the mix but yes, you could put it in the gas to absorb the water. I assume you know it will lower the burning temp of the gas and the efficiency some, along with it will raise the effective octane rating and might make the engine run a little rough. Just check the gas first for water before adding it. Obviously, if you don't have water you won't need the methanol.
