new plan build thread

well i was reading and i wanted to do a v10 in my 97 expy. but after reading and looking i think i may go with a 5.4 dohc. i i have a 97 and i am not sure what year but id say its a 99 maby 00 navi is at the yard near me and the motor is going cheap. i have the sniper custom tuner, to burn my own tune will i need the ecm from the navi? it needs the box numbers. but from what i have read all you have to do is get a custom tune, well i burn my own so what will i need to do about that.

also am i correct in the fact all you have to do is make a few connector longer for the harness? i dont want to jump into this with only half the facts.

also as far as headers where can i get a set of flanges?

thanks guys

I don't think it is such a hard swap. The Navi intakes are interesting, and as far as I can tell, there are no long tube headers available.

You can use your expy pcm, coil packs, and harnesses with a few minor mods. Some of the duty cycle items like the iac, egr parts, maybe the tps will need to be from the expy?? Does the Sniper have the ability to change VE and intake volume?

There are shorty headers available. Maybe contact a manufacturer and buy flanges.

i haven't gotten to far into it so im not to sure. i deleted my egr with it so that's not a worry. i was worried about trans and all that. but if i can use my pcm then im not worried about it.

how much was the 3 inch body lift? and how did you go about it? did you have to extend any brake lines? or wiring?

honestly i did it the cheap way. hockey pucks. ive used them forever and love them. all i had to do was raise the bumpers. no wireing, steering shaft, filler neck. none of that. the reason i did it this way was they want like 250 or 300 for a body lift. im not paying that for one. my broncos was like 80 bucks. huge difference.
