Ignition linkage problem......

I went to crank my ford taurus 1997 and noticed the the ignition lock seemed loose. Could not cut the car dash lights off, and you can put the transmission in any gear, no matter if the ignition is cut off.
Researching the net, gives me the idea it is the linkage. It's a tefalon shaft that is prone to break.

Does this sound like what the problem is? If it is, how hard is it to change out.
Will it take special tools.

thanks brian nc

Wrong site bud - This is f150online. The f150 ignition problem is that plastic locking deal on the ignition shaft itself. It goes bad after awhile.

I have a hard time seeing where this has anything whatsoever to do with V-8 engines, much less a F-150.
