Please. Help me find my drain plug!
Please. Help me find my drain plug!
I can't seem to find it on my truck. I've seen pictures of where it's supposed to be, and when I went to look, it's not there..... Does anyone know why?
Is the 4.6 drain plug in a different spot?
Do I have a different engine?
I'm kinda stuck right now, any help would be great.
EDIT: I am looking for the Coolant drain plug, not the oil drain plug.

Sorry, I was so frustrated, I forgot to specify. I need the COOLANT drain plug, NOT the oil plug. Sorry for the confusion.
to camarothatcould: Yes, I know what an oil pan is, I've changed my oil many times.

Wow, I must be really annoyed. Time to count to 10...................1.....2....3....45678910
OK. Lets start from the beginning, I'm trying to drain all of the coolant out of my truck. I've already drained the radiator from the small plastic nozzle on the passenger side, but I know that isn't all of it, the block still has antifreeze in it. I'm trying to find the plug that everyone seems to think is next to the last freeze plug on the drivers side. I'm looking at the spot, and it's not there. I have a picture of exactly what it should look like, and mine matches exactly (tranny bolts, bushings, other assorted bolts) except that I have no drain plug.
What gives?

On my 5.4 it was on the drivers side below the exhaust manifold. Did mine last week. This thread might help you ---> https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...ntifreeze.html

On a V type engine (of any # of cylinders) you should have a drain plug on BOTH banks. May not necessarily be easy to find but I am not familiar with one that DOESN'T have drain provision for the complete block.

Hard of hearing Patman? JK
Every car or truck I have had has had drain plugs (or plug in the case of 4 Cyl) for the block because I always believe in draining the block also.

forget the block drain plugs!..here is what you do to do a coolant flush.(if you like you may add a cooland flush solvent and bring up to temp before draining coolant). First drain the radiator, second remove the thermostat and o-ring and reassemble without them, third remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator and point it into large pail. Now....put a garden hose in the radiator opening where the upper rad hose used to be, turn the hose on full blast and start your truck. water/coolant will start pumping out the upper rad hose into the bucket. once the bucket is full just let it pump on to the ground as almost all the coolant will be out by now, do this for 5 minutes or so. Flush finished, turn off hose but let truck continue to run till water stops pumping out. NOW reinstall thermostat(preferably a new one) and reattatch the upper rad hose. Fill up system with STRAIT coolant(keep in mind block is full of water). Drive vehicle untill thermostat opens and check coolant strength/ correct as needed. It is usually close to 50/50 as desighn a radiator is always half the coolant capacity. DONE.
