Help with DTCs

I have a 2003 SCREW 5.4L 2v 4x4 FX4.

I AM NOT GETTING ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS!!!! However when I hook up my Hypertech programmer III (piece of crap I know) I'm getting the following DTCs:

P0405---Exhaust gas Recirculation Sensor A circuit Low

P1AEE

From what I can tell from my short search is that the last is a "garbage code" caused by Hypertech's inability to commmunicate properly with the PCM. But what about the EGR one. This is the 2nd time I've received that one. I was actually hooking up the Hypertech to take off the 87 tune and put it back to stock.

I'm not too familiar with the EGR stuff so bare with me and explain. Also, how do I fix it. Again, Im not getting any CELs...so should I even be worried? Is the Hypertech detecting something about to go out? I did add a bottle of Gumout with Regane the otehr day when I filled up. But it had this EGR code before that so I don't think the Gumouts the problem.

HELP!!----DirtySCREW

Take a run over to Autozone and see what their scanner comes up with.

Well I just cleared them so I could go back to stock. Seems to me though, a DTC would throw a CEL...which I don't have. Wouldn't it be something if I got BETTER mileage in stock form than with the 87 Hypertech tune. We'll soon find out once I drive this tank out!---DirtySCREW

Dunno if anyone has told you this in another thread yet, but take that spacer off and throw it away. They don't do squat on fuel injected vehicles unless you are running nitrous. It may even be HURTING your mileage.

Yea, I was wondering if it was hurting my mileage. I've been told that its not hurting it but its NOT HELPING it either. Well see what this next tank will do. It has a bottle of Gumout with Regane everyone recommended. I looked for BK44 or whatever its called but AAP doesn't sell it.

SIDE NOTE: I'm actually about to do a post on this GLC, but I took the hyper-crap...I mean hypertech and took my truck back to STOCK settings. Can you believe I actually got a smile on my face from its performance. It seems to have more get up and go! I even spun the rear tires NOT meaning to when a Avalanche was making a U-turn and I thought he was making a left turn. I had to get on it a little as I was making a right turn. The truck spun the tires just a little and just went! I was like Man this is what its suppose to do!!----DirtySCREW

Glc---forgot to mention I had a Honda Passport (isuzu rodeo) at one time that had CELs come and go. I went to AAP/Autozone and they said the vehicle had to have to CEL for them to check it with their scanners. I'm not getting CELs...just the hyper-crap is picking it up. Whats the EGR do anyways? Can it affect my mileage??/ What do I replace?--DirtySCREW

egr is a pollution control. if its sending a code your cel should be on. if its not and its actually got the code your scanner isnt hallucinating then you have a bad bulb or maybe the cigarette lighter fuse is blown. They share the same circuit. No cig lighter worky no cel.. or maybe its the port that shares the cig light circut..

If you do in fact have an EGR problem, that can definitely affect both mileage and driveability.

What you should probably do now, now that you have yanked your tune, is disconnect the battery for 20 minutes to clear out the PCM and let it relearn.

The "service engine soon" lights up when you turn the ignition to the RUN position, along with every other indication light. So, its lighting up...but NOTHING is coming on. I'll check the cigarette lighter to see if it working--DirtySCREW
