Dtc p0405

P0405 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low

What does this mean (in english) and what can I do to fix it?? I went to check what tune I have with my Hypertech Power ProgrammerIII and it can up with this DTC. I have a 2003 SCREW 5.4L with 136,600 miles if it matters--DirtySCREW

I should add that I DID NOT have a check engine light. I just plugged in my Hypertech and IT told me I had the DTC P0405.--DirtySCREW

does the cel work? turn the key on and it should come on. did you do any koeo or koer tests or did you just go straight to the dtc's?

CEL works. I don't know what koeo or koer tests are or what they mean. Sorry. I plugged in my hypertech to see what tune I was on---previous owner stated it was on 87 octane tune...I was trying to confirm that. When I plugged in the hypertech it goes thru its boot up and checks for DTCs automatically. The first time I left the DTC there and exited...came here and posted and started searching thr forums for a possible solution. I found several posts but all I did was get MORE confused as some didn't really have any answers and others were speculation. I went back out to my truck, plugged in the hypertech, cleared the DTC (so I could continue with the tune) and made sure it was on 87 octane tune...which it is. That's where I'm at----DirtySCREW

Disconnect the neg battery terminal for a minute. Reconnect and drive it as you normally do. If the light comes on check for codes again.

KOEO = Key On, Engine Off
KOER = Key On, Engine Running

If it comes back, something's up with the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) System
