rebuilt already?
rebuilt already?
i just got around to pulling the motor out of my truck this morning and after stripping the wiring harness, fuel rails and injectors along with the accessory brackets i decided to pull the pan to inspect the crank, rods and what not... i noticed the connecting rods have their # stamped on the rod and the cap for each cylinder. i thought that's something that's only done if the motor has been rebuilt?
you can also see some of the cross-hatching in the cylinder walls... before i pulled the motor i spun the crank by hand w/ the plugs removed and could hear a clunking noise but now that the motor is out and on a work stand, there's no clunk at all?!?!
well anyways, there was a ton of crud on the oil pump screen, metal, dirt, a dead lizard. ya know, the usual stuff. there is almost enough tar in and on the motor to repave my driveway lol
oh and im not kidding about the lizard!

im still trying to figure that one out!? im guessing when i had the distributor off for a few days last year, the lil thing found his way down in there... i did find another lizard underneath the upper intake manifold next to the temp sender

Give him a decent burial.
