Unhappy 2000 5.4 won't start every time...

Hey,

How's it going? I'm new here, and I have a question for you guys.

My truck, a 2000 Ford F-150 4x4, with a 5.4 and 213KM has been having a problem lately...

Usually, my truck starts almost instantly when I hit the key, but for some time now, when I try to start it; it will crank and hesitate, but won't want to run. I hit the key again, and then it will start.

What could be the problem? I haven't changed the plugs since I bought it (bought 6K ago), and I don't know when they've been replaced. I haven't replaced the 02 sensors before either, and I doubt that they've been replaced... Keep in mind this doesn't always happen, usually when warm though. Otherwise this is a very healthy motor.

Thanks,

Derek

Its your fuel filter man. Mine done the same thing. Is it when you first start it for the day? If so ya change your fuel filter and you will be set.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am going to replace the fuel filter, since it must need replacing by now anyway.

How could I test the CPS for a malfunction? Is there a test procedure for this?

Thanks!

Yea , the first thing you do after purchasing a used vehicle is replace or update maintenance parts, IF your unsure about the last time this was done. I mean, it's your vehicle and you want it to last right? So hopefully this makes sense to you...?

With 132,000 miles,-I would go thru everything for piece of mind. Ask here about the best replacement parts before hand and you'll get it right the first time around
