4.6 help

I am in the process of switching motors and need to use my intake. When i took the lower intake off to clean it, all of the material inside of the rubber covering was dust. The rubber was dry rotted as well. What is the reason for this stuff and where does one purchase a replacement. Thanks in advance for any help. DV

I looked on ebay and they have mostly mustang manifolds but I found 2 for truck.
I don't think the second one will work but you can probably use the older aluminum one. Maybe.
Otherwise try a junk yard or the dealer.

I believe that material is a sort of insulation blanket? I don't have it in my truck since the intake swap, and it seems fine after 20k miles.

Neither of the ebay manifolds would be correct. The first one is Npi, which would work, but not be a good port match, and the second one is for a 3v engine.

Try the junque yards, but be specific. Some of the accessories need the exact bolt holes in the manifold to relocate correctly.

that second pic is for an 04+ 4.6 2v with the updated spark plug threads and drive by wire.

I'm not sure what's that's for. - I still use it, - ONELOWF runs without and no problems.

BTW- It's called a jacket- mines just solid rubber w/snaps.

It's rubber so mabe it's something to help with with heat and moisture - just guessing. Personally , I would replace it if I could locate one.

Are we discussing #20?

It is a NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) shield. Mine is long gone.
