That is correct. I would suggest checking the polarity at the coil. Do you have the wires reversed? The correct fuel pressure is 6-8 lbs.

Another question, have you had the engine running with a timing light on it while attempting to raise rpms? Did the timing marks move?

The way the + & - wires hook to my coil can only be hooked 1 way so i hope that's right.

Make sure when checking the firing order you actually trace each wire to its plug. I've made the mistake of having them in looms were I thought they were in the loom by the cylinder1234 5678 and they were wrong.

are there any mods done to the engine? make sure you have spark going to each cylinder. does it have a stock 351 cam? does it have a cat on it?

I don't have my wires in a loom ATM so i can track the wire to the plug.

No Mods that i know of. I do have a bright blue spark going to all 8 cylinders. I am pretty sure it has the stock cam. No cat, I took it off about a week ago.

Are you 100% sure it is a 351W and not a 351M?

Not sure if the M has the same firing order as the W....

If the firing order was out it wouldn't idle smooth would it? Tomorrow i am going to advance to timing to the point where it pings then back off a little to see if it still does the same thing under load, is this a good idea or could this destroy my motor?

If it pings under no load, it will really ping bad under load. Backing it off a little might not be enough...

Detonation is brutal on the motor - I don't think I would risk inducing a bunch of detonation on an already sick pup.

Oh, okay it is prolly another problem anyways cause ATM the timing is right on so there is no sense in going and messing that up as well.

I have a question. Since i took my cats off my exhaust is dumping about 8 inches from the manifold. Could this be causing or contributing to my problem?
