2000 Harley F-150 First & Last Plug Change

Now I know why they charge so much to change plugs at Ford. Five hours and several hundred expletives is all it took for me to change the plugs. My knuckles are a mess, and my back is killing me. I won't be buying another 5.4 Ford. I have never owned anything but Ford trucks, but this may be the last one. My truck has 107,600 miles on it. The plugs all looked fine. The gap had expanded to 64 from 54. The truck was running fine, but town mileage had dropped from 15.5 to 13.75 and highway was down from 19 to 17.25. I think it it time for a diesel. I like the look of the F-250 but I keep hearing negative things about the engine. Anyway, bitching aside, I learned a lot and appreciate all the tips posted about plug change by you guys. Without all the tips, I would still be out there working. Thanks

It's ok, we all felt like that the first time. You'll be ok tomorrow and willing to keep the Harley after you see the prices on the F250s.

I felt the same way my first time as well. It gets a lot easier the more you do it (and if you have a body lift as well)

Spark Plug Change - 2000 Harley F150

Yesterday I stopped by my local Ford dealer and was told that to change the plugs, (and boots) would be $578, including tax. So, I have changed my mind about never changing plugs again. In fact, for $578 I will change your plugs, and provide you with beer, pizza and a lawn chair so you can watch. I will even allow you to video the proceeding so you can amuse your friends and family.

That is pretty steep. Mine was $450 less a 10% coupon, $405. The boots were $100 of that and that is on the 5.4 3v where they take longer.

The first time I did it - I ended up doing it over 3 times within two weeks working 80 hr shifts - so stop crying , I don't wanna hear it lol.

Tried Autolites, -they lasted all of 40 miles. Had to thro my old Motorcrafts back in when I got home that night at about 10:30 pm, - to get her firing on all 8 again. Then installed a new set of Motorcrafts the following week.

Now I'm an addict

That's pretty good mileage for the 5four, I wouldn't complain. A fresh set of forward 02's (OEM's) will most likley get her back to what she was - if it was that much better.

Anyway, Fords Charge =

+ Plugs on that model. You can do a good thorough job in about 2.5 once you've done it once or ten times. - Maybe 2 If you stay out of the fridge and off the phone, -you can kick the dog, that doesn't seem to matter either way.

BTW- I would hold out a little longer on that diesel, -unless your looking at an older model 7.3L. If you find one of those mint, ****** it!
