Duraspark With 5 wires?

Hey, I have a 83 f150 and i am re-wiring the ignition cause the previous owner did a hack job on it but i cant seem to find the correct wiring diagram. The ignition box has 5 wires coming from it but all other Duraspark systems i have seen have 6 wires. I should also mention the side of the box says "Regitar USA" And has a Brown wire holder. I have the following colors Red,White,Green,Orange and Black. The EEC Computer has also been took out.

Thanks!

Yer 83 should be a Duraspark III system. It has circuitry for sensors that the other systems don't like knock sensor etc. Since you have nothing to go by, I'd suggest using a Duraspark II system using the blue relief and use it like an after market unit. You can buy the harnesses from Painless Wiring. They should be able to get you going with all of it or headed in a good direction.

The brown relief does use an EEC unit, the blue doesn't. The blue is easiest to get but the red, if you intend to mod, will serve you best but you'll have to play games with the ballast resistor if you are going to use an ultra high voltage coil. I'm using a black on my 74 F-100 with a highly modded 390 and an Accel coil.

Thanks for the Info! I will most likely be using the Duraspark II System, I looked as some Duraspark systems and all of them seem to use a distributor with wires coming from it but mine doesn't have any. It does have a Crank Position Sensor though. Any suggestions with wiring that to the Duraspark II?

Thanks!

You'll not use the crank sensor and you'll probably need a different dizzy. I'd ask at Painless about that to make sure. Mine was already set up for a Duraspark I unit and I converted it to a Duraspark II unit. They are more reliable and in my opinion, the best electronic ignition ever built. So yers is going to be more complex than mine.
