'01 4.6L getting EGR code P0401
Oh I am dealing with the same issue. Tried cleaning the throttle body yet(EGR ports)? If you have already then you and I are in the same boat. If you find out how to fix it, I definitely want to know what you did.
Just sayin.
Welcome to the site
jbrew.... where do you get the idea that I have been told MANY times and posted numerous threads? I posted ONE (1) thread and have not been told by anyone to use the motorcraft dpfe. Make sure you know who you are talking to before you make such allegations. I'm not a freakin' idiot so the back the hell up.

Matts;
I see that now with the other guys reply in blue. My mistake and jbrew, hope you will except my apology for popping off like that. This issue with the truck is really getting to me and working on it in these 100+ degree temps here in Texas is really getting me cooked.
Again my apologies to all and Matts thanks for calling me down.
jbrew thanks for the search tip. Did that and found lots of info.
Thanks again. Hope my apologies are received and accepted.

now what brand dpfe and egr valve did you get? have you checked the egr ports? the 4.6 is pretty bad about plugging them up and it will throw the well known p0401 code. aftermarket dpfe's dont last long and sometimes are bad as you pull it out of the box. and i'm not sure about the newer egr valves but on older trucks like mine alot of aftermarkets egr's dont work right and sometimes fail fairly quick depending on the brand.
Well Matt, Thank you for the Welcome. All 3 devices that I replaced came from none other than
(sound effect plz)
dunt-dunt-DUUUUUNNNNNnnnn.... AutoZone
I first replaced the dpfe and solenoid; reset comp codes and thought I was a happy camper... until the dreaded "CHECK ENGINE" light came back on with the same 401 code. So I figured since I did not replace the egr valve, that was last but certainly not least. So off to AZ to get the egr valve and become triumphant (I thought)
<sigh> The EGR ports you speak of would located behind the valve or? And how much of an issue is it to clean those? Use Sea Foam and a pick of some sort or...?

motorcraft is highly recommended for dpfe replacement.

He keeps starting new threads, wasting other members time when it's been said over and over again what his problem is

I love to say it, -but it's looking like comprehension problem.

I told you to search because I just did this, so it should come up on top in the search bar if you look for it. Thing is, he started so many threads, your going to have to find out which one it is I posted the info in lol. It was allot of writing, more than usual.
Matts got this one covered

Look man sorry for the different threads. I am sorry if I have gotten on your bad side. I will admit that i am not as mechanically-inclined as some of you. And I was just trying to get as much info as possible. You have been extremely helpful in the past and don't want to loose anyone's willingness to help. Its my first truck and I have way too many questions. I have heard for quite some time now that Motocraft only was the way to go on F150's but I have heard that it does not matter also. I was more trying to validate spending $95 dollars on one part more than anything. Didn't understand that Motocraft parts meant that much. AND no, slamming me like that was not necessary either.
No problem, I put allot of time into the other guy. I even so much as went out to my truck with a multi-meter, posted back what exact readings a GOOD DPFE puts out as far as voltage, then made a a video for the dude.

, and its really mature the way your are handling this multi-thread posting issue. I did not know that it was going to be such a problem. I have done everything you instructed me to do down to the letter, and you gave me very good, valid information. Until just recently I had no idea that buying an DPFE sensor from autozone, oreily's, or any place that is not Ford was that much of an issue. Until I was told otherwise, a DPFE sensor was a DPFE sensor to me. I appreciate all of your help, and you helped me when I posted the thread about 1408 which I believe is one of the threads you are referring to, which by the way I only posted 4 with 2 being about EGR. One was about the code 1408(EGR out of range) and another was 401(EGR insufficient). The only reason I posted another thread by the way is because I thought they different. Like I said before I am grateful for your help, but there is really no reason for you to put me down like this.
