I broke something and don't know what it is

2002 F-150 5.4L 4X4 KR. I'm trying to find/repair a vacuum leak that is causing me some minor A/C problems and in the process I broke something that I can't identify. It's located above the master cylinder and has a 3/8" or 5/16" vacuum hose running from it to the back of the throttle body. I was trying to remove the vacuum hose when a plastic elbow broke off.... I plugged the vacuum hose but don't know what to do with the black/green unidentified part. Truck runs fine. Looking at the vacuum hose diagram it looks like it might be the evaporator service port. Can anyone help?

Ouch. That is the EVR, electronic vacuum regulator for the EGR system. This may require a trip to the dealership with your vin in hand to get the correct one?

Yes, the EGR valve is only available at the Dealership. It won't effect the run unless you are in COLD temps.

I had the same problem.

Turned out to be the vapor management valve...... $75 at the dealership. I probably could have lived without it, but I'll sleep better at night with it in there.

I just noticed again that you are in Longview. I grew up there and still have folks around town. Was over there 2 weeks ago.

Wow , $75 for that part

Well, yea, you did the right thing for sure. I've broke quite a few of those. - It sucks because that little plastic tube breaks off flush with the solenoid, leaving you with no way to fix.

I was fortunate enough to find them sold in bulk on ebay for $9 apiece. They come in handy lol.

Although this doesn't help you now, I would have done the same thing given the circumstance, - but mannn, their sure not cheap at the dealer.
